Serving Size: 1 pie shell

1/2 cup Crisco shortening – 3 1/2 oz
2 tablespoons – 1 oz butter/margarine
1 1/2 cups flour – 7 1/2 oz
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup ice water – 3 fl oz
Double for a double pie crust.
1. Beat shortening and butter/margarine until smooth; stir in flour and salt until coarse. Pour in water all at once; stir until loose dough forms. With floured hands, gather into a ball. On well floured surface, gently knead 3/4″ thick disk. Wrap and refrigerate for at least half an hour.
2. With well-floured surface and rolling pin, roll out 13″ circle.
For a baked shell
1. Heat oven to 400°F. Place pie shell in pie plate, cover with aluminium foil (shiny side down) and place another pie plate on top.
2. Cook for 20 minutes then remove foil and pie plate and cook for another 5 minutes.
